Something Like That

I once lived in a world of fashion, boys, parties but now I live in a world of power struggles, intrigue and murder. I feel like there is no one close to me that I can tell my thoughts to since I have graduated, for everything has changed and it’s not for the better. Everyone is so intense about everything and I don't mean about college and stuff as in my world these are not big issues as I live on the Southside of Bishop Vale where there are big houses, luxury cars and socialites who are more interested in the latest couture than the latest world issues.

It's just that lately I have began to notice stuff about our town, not just the 'old money' as everyone here has done business with each other for generations. It’s almost incestuous in how they won't let new people into the area, except for Bianca Sangu who managed to outsmart the entire social set, which made Mother laugh into her gin for a whole day! It is more like the affairs, the scandals, the lies and of course, there are the homicidal whispers that everyone just sort of accepts.

We are not outstandingly wealthy but our family was one of the founders of Bishop Vale so I am included in everything and though I guess I am one of 'them' at least I was, but somehow things are changing and this includes how I see the people in my life. Even Tiah (my best friend) Vanderhaven noticed this the other day and she is not exactly a very observant or even a person who cares about anything except herself and getting her own way.

She was trying to return her new car, which was a present from her father for when we graduated from school he got her this cool BMW something, anyway it is a convertible but she did not like the seats. She said the leather smelled funny but I thought she was being a bit strange after all leather smells like...well leather! So she drags me and Coco, she is our other friend her name is really Cordelia but when she was twelve someone called her Cordy and her mum sprackled out and made a point of calling her Coco ever since, anyway Tiah drags us back to the dealership to exchange her car for another one.

The sales guy (super hottie) laughed and told her she can't exchange a driven car as it's not like a dress, anyway Tiah is not used to anyone, especially a salesperson saying no, so she went off ranting to Daddy and when she left ranting I saw the look in his eyes and it was one of worry. Tiah said everything was different and people were acting weird but I knew it was just a case of her noticing real life for once. I also know her dad will pull strings and get it exchanged because that is how life is in this town, well if you are from the Southside. So I am Lucinda and this is my world-- of lust, love, revenge, murder and intrigue.
