Start->Chapter 1->Episode 10 To Gervais
Today was not a good day for Tiah called me up to come over as she and Coco were going to look at glam mags so they could choose a fashion designer for their Spring Opener gowns. Only I had to stay home because Mother had one of her friends over, Astrid and her daughter Zizi- I always wondered what sort of name Zizi was cause it sounds totally strange. Mother and Astrid are more allies than friends as I don’t know if Astrid really talks to many people because she was always at every social function but never part of a group. I always thought that maybe she was friends with Liselle because she runs a business like Liselle does only hers is an interior design business which according to Mother never has any customers, sort of like Liselle’s antique shop that never sells anything. Sometimes I wonder what the people of Bishop Vale actually do with all these fake businesses about maybe they are all aliens pretending to be people.
Mother gave a cynical snort when I asked if Liselle was friends with Astrid as according to her Liselle disdains Astrid. It seems that once when Astrid was mentioned Liselle curled her lip and said “Oh her”, with utter contempt and everyone was shocked at her almost display of emotion. Since then Mother said everyone tends to keep them apart which sort of isolates Astrid since everyone bends over backwards to invite Liselle but since she barely shows up people have taken to inviting Astrid who at least turns up!
So Mother and Astrid were doing some sort of hush-hush which leaves me with the job of entertaining Zizi. Now I went to school with Zizi and she is surprisingly nice, she is an amazing singer, really pretty, not in the warm way that Jazz is pretty, but in this porcelain snow queen sort of way. I would have spent more time with her but there is a big problem with Zizi, not with her exactly but who with who she really is. Zizi was always part of our group, she went to school with us, she was always over at the Vanderhavens and she even went on holiday with them. I always thought it was because she had no father and they felt sorry for her, but my father died when I was young and I was never invited to Europe! It was not until we had graduated from school that the big news was broken to the family Jago admitted that he was Zizi’s real father. This explained Liselle’s curled lip of disdain! Well Taryn sprackled totally out, lawyers were called, Tiah locked herself in her room for about a week, Braith thought it was cool and Royce went all weird. I think he is really sensitive or something cause he can barely talk to Zizi now and they used to really get along well. The entire town was hot with gossip and the Vanderhavens were saying nothing publicly, tons privately and Liselle was saying nothing as usual.
After a week of shouting everything went back to normal, Mother said Taryn practically got an entire store full of diamonds, Tiah got her BMW, I don’t think Royce or Braith got anything. What was funny was that nothing much changed for Zizi as Jago never admitted to anyone in public that he was her father, she never went back to the Vanderhavens and Taryn barely speaks to Astrid. I wanted to ask Zizi why she didn’t get Osric Jones to give her a recording contract as he is best friends with Jago but she wouldn’t talk about her family. Here I was spending the day with someone Tiah hates more than she hates Jazz and by the time they left I was exhausted. Zizi is as prickly as a rosebush, gives out about as much information as Liselle and I think maybe this town has far too many secrets for it’s own good! Tiah gave me a call saying everyone wondered where I was so hoping everyone meant Royce I slipped on down to Djini's. Of course everyone just meant keeping her from being alone with Coco, that appears to be my function lately, the barrier between worlds.
