Start->Chapter 1->Episode 12 To Gervais
Mother was on the phone all day to Chantal and various other boods from their network for Bianca appears to have got around Taryn’s boycott in a really evil way that has Mother completely chuckling. Cameo Larsen was not pleased that Taryn dropped her like a hot potato the minute that Caspar Royale accepted Taryn’s offer to host the Spring Opener. After all, Cameo has designed the last four and everyone always gushed how wonderful the themes were though I personally don’t think an acre of pink satin stapled to the ceiling makes anyone think of desert nights, who ever heard of satin in the desert anyway? So Cameo gets this brilliant idea, why not book Sedero’s for the lunch cause it has a function room and it’s not as if a luncheon booking would bother the night of the Opener. So Cameo calls Bianca, then calls Maria that is Chantal’s assistant and she tells Chantal who then calls Mother. Then Mother and Chantal burn the wires the rest of the day cause Chantal is all fleeced with pleasure that they are going to annoy Taryn and the deal is set. Nothing Chantal loves more than to make Taryn sprackle, they are always complaining about each other, it’s like they never got over stuff from school. Bianca is all fizzed cause she doesn’t have to cancel anything at all, now she just reprints new location cards and everyone is happy, well except for Taryn who is never really happy about anything anyway.
I asked Mother if Cameo was not taking a big risk, after all Taryn did a lot of functions but Mother said that Cameo was well aware that Taryn would short leash Caspar with her and all her friend’s functions, which pretty much leaves Cameo in the cold. So if she can snare Bianca as a new customer she will do well as Bianca is hungry to earn a social place and that means big, deep pockets. The only way a person with her sex shop money can get in into our world is to buy their way in and charity functions is how it’s done. Mother started raving on about something called noblesse oblige and how money should be put to better use, which made me wonder for a minute since she goes to all these parties. After a bit I just spaced out wondering what Royce would do at the Opener, he hardly went to his mother’s boring old functions but the Opener was the one non-negotiable part of his life. Taryn lived for being the queen of the town and her Opener was the biggest fizz of the year. All the old boods, even ones that you thought were dead, some who looked like they were about to be dead and even some who looked like they climbed out their coffins to come would attend the Spring Opener, it signaled the beginning of a year of parties.
Soon the phone rang again and Mother was off cackling like one of those witches from Macbeth, I swear you can practically see them all stirring a cauldron the way they stir up trouble. It’s sort of magical the way they all knew when someone was having troubles cause the phones would start ringing and not stop for hours. I expected Tiah to call with the news that Taryn had sprackled again, cause that was typical Tiah, the world revolved around her mother’s sprackles but she didn’t so I thought maybe Taryn hadn’t heard until I remembered I was not in good graces with Tiah. Usually when that happens I used to call up and apologise for stuff that I had nothing to do with but this time I decided she could just get over it on her own as we aren’t at school anymore and it was going take a lot more than her sulks to make me an outcast.
The problem with my town, with my life is that Tiah and her family seem to control what is right, or in or whatever we are supposed to do. If they disapprove then we don’t wear that or eat there, or associate with that person. I know I haven’t been around the world a lot but I am already tired of having to tell them all how wonderful they are every ten minutes just so I can see Royce being a meatnut with his friends. All I want is to be able to go out and do stuff without worrying about what the right people will think. If it didn’t mean wearing bad clothes and greasy hair I swear I would be a rebel.
I called Coco under the pretext of checking out the sales at Bazarrio but it was really a ploy to go see Royce as he hangs out at the skate shop next door where they rebuild skateboards to go faster or look meaner or something. Coco was really nervous at being seen with me while Tiah was mad at me and made all these excuses why she couldn’t go out. I told her I was not impressed and it was not as if Tiah was sending someone to spy on us, how would she know? The guys are not about to tell her, they barely notice we are alive unless they want to grope for a bit and I am not going to let some dirty meatnuts touch me, well unless it’s Royce and he isn’t sweaty. When she still wouldn’t go, I said, “Ok, hope you enjoy your new job,” and hung up. I knew that would freak her out as she has not heard back from Liselle yet and would think that I knew something. I didn’t care about her freaking cause my friends really need to get a life outside the whims a Vanderhaven. So my phone is off the hook again as I decide on what Mother would call some quiet time, sometimes not just life is a bitch.
