Come into my Parlour

Today was like yesterday only with less shopping, what a way to start my new life of being an adult. I went to work and Liselle flicked a duster over a few things until Taryn and Caspar came in, then the three of them went out to Djini’s for coffee which was a shame as I didn’t get to talk to Caspar who is really sexy. He is always wearing these blazers with no tie and has his shirt undone a few buttons, sometimes he wears a cravat or a hat and not the leather hats that Osric wears, they look like berets but like a captain’s hat or something, everything about Caspar sort of says careless couture.I guess they were tying to work out a way to make the Opener the talk of the town, even if it was rubbish it still would be because Taryn is a Vanderhaven and that means you are in fashion even when you are completely wretched! Tiah and Coco dropped by for a bit during Coco’s lunch hour and I think Tiah is feeling a bit lonely as both Coco and I are gone during the day. It’s not like she can’t get anyone else to go out with her as there are lots of hangers who would love to spend the day with a Vanderhaven but I don’t think Tiah has any really close friends besides Coco and me. Tiah I talked to but Coco I ignored which would have worked had Coco noticed I was ignoring her, instead she just wandered about the shop calling everything old and smelly. Which made me defensive in a way, like ok, maybe it is old and smelly but it is my job so only I can call it old and smelly. I told Coco in my most superior voice that antique furniture has a quality that cannot be discerned by the ordinary person and secretly wished Gervais would come so I could get him to squish between the counter and her.

Of course you really should be careful for what you wish for as a creepy voice from behind me went “Well said from the nouveau dealer.” The devil himself, Gervais had crept up from the back entrance without anyone noticing, ugh! Of course in five seconds Tiah and Coco left saying that Coco had to get back to work so I didn’t have a chance to let him freak them out and what was worse I was now left alone with him. He started with the questions again, this time he wanted to know about Coco and where she worked and everything so I happily obliged, if Gervais is keeping her busy then she is leaving Royce alone. His questions always surprise me as they are often more suited to nosy old woman than a guy who is thirty even if he is gay and denying it. Although Tiah told me she thinks Gervais is bisexual because he gives the same looks to guys and girls and Tiah would know because enough guys and girls give her looks. Liselle and Taryn returned and Liselle gave Gervais such a look, I swear it would have melted iron of which he appeared immune and then he left so I guess she is not fond of him being alone in the shop with me. She and Taryn went into the back room to do some hush-hush leaving me yawning and waiting for pointers.

I wish this shop would get even a pretend customer as I really have so many better things to do than waste my time here. When I got home Mother said to celebrate we were going to Sedero’s for dinner, so what, she eats there at least three times a week anyway. It’s not just because it’s free for her, Mother was never what one would call domestic. We have always had a woman who cleans and have dined out several times a week for my entire life, Mother is not a fan of what she calls fodder for the masses, she means junk food. Admittedly it can be hard getting a good glass of wine at a burger place however if you are girl and want to find where the guys are just follow the burgers, at least until they grow up and discover other food in the world. It was while we were at Sedero’s that I began to formulate a plan, one to get Mother to insist that I leave my job and perhaps compensate me with a new wardrobe or even a new car. It was all due to Jojo Sedero and the way he acted behind the bar, sometimes even a freak can have his uses!
