Start->Chapter 1->Episode 22 To Gervais
Finally a day off, I had spent the last few days being tormented by the most annoying members from the various families of Bishop Vale so I was relieved to finally have a day to myself. Away from Jojo and his freakish ways, not having to watch Cameo and Bianca try to out do Taryn, or keep from being noticed by Tony Sedero or finding myself stare at Jazz in curiosity.
When Jazz found out I was working there she greeted me pretty coolly, after all it has been about two years since we have really spoken. When we were younger we were the best of friends probably because our parents used to get together all the time but the return of Royce Vanderhaven changed all of that pretty quickly. I discovered that there was almost no way to get near the Vanderhaven boys unless you are in with Tiah or her parents as Taryn was like a Rottweiler guarding her kids from undesirable associations. Since my mother chose to be Chantal’s friend there was no way that Taryn was about to invite me over so it had to be Tiah, not that Tiah is the worst person to know, I leave that to Elyce Dubois, Tiah just appears to be a product of her family. I imagine Taryn was pretty much the same when she was young which makes why everyone liked Chantal more fairly reasonable. Tiah, like her mother, spends her time being a Vanderhaven and not paying attention to the lives of those around her, her brothers are a different matter; they went away to boarding school and came back nice guys who were liked by all who meet them. Even surf/skate boy Royce is seen as easy going, cheerful and needing direction more than being a wastrel and Braith is held up as the young man to emulate which makes Jojo snort into his beret.
Now Jojo Sedero is often seen as a rich boy who needs a good thumping and after a close encounter with him I can understand this completely. He has never done anything really bad but his weird dress and manner of speaking to people has him seen as obnoxious but he is also a big fat fraud. He might say he hates the family business but Jojo knows everything about it, he knows who to order from, how much stock is needed, who to get tough with, who to give time to, he even knows everything about all the staff and they like him! Hard to imagine anyone spending time with Jojo without looking for the nearest blunt object to dong him with, he can also be arrogant with the confidence that the world is his and considering he is one the richest kids in town I guess it is.
I went down to Djini’s to meet Tiah and Coco as I am back talking to Coco since I discovered her job is making her miserable. Apparently they have her out back in some dungeon counting stock all day and writing in a little book so now she doesn’t get to serve or flirt with any of the hot bods coming her way. To make matters worse she has seen Elyce more than Royce as Elyce has been tracking him down like a lioness tracks prey. Not that Coco wants to go out with Royce, she just thought if she saw him and raised my name it might appease me which from Coco was as close to an apology I was ever going to get. I told her even if her dungeon had rats and spiders it could not be any worse than spending your entire day listening to the ravings of a freak boy.
God that guy has an opinion on everything, he is under the impression he should run the world or something all full of fizz and pop but when Tony came in to talk to him Jojo froze and became cold to him. I don’t blame him, now that I have had the Tony Sedero experience first hand I can understand just why Jojo is a freak the poor guy gets it from his father. Tony doesn’t try anything with me he but he is always a little too close, the way Gervais likes to stand and he asked a lot of questions like if I have a boyfriend—I lied madly and said yes I do and we are very serious. Of course he would not dare try anything with Nadia glaring at him from across the room even though I don’t think Nadia is in love with him she just likes to keep him on a short leash as he is her key to Osric Jones.
Nadia is a really good singer with this old fashioned torch song sort of voice and she is also very beautiful with an exotic stage presence that men adore. I caught Jojo staring at her while she was doing sound checks and asked if he fancied her but he told me he had another girl in mind. I kept asking him who it was but he just got all freak boy on me so in the end I got fed up, it is really easy to get fed up with Jojo, and told him to go play in traffic. Jojo laughed again—I wish he would stop that and asked me who my boyfriend was but since two can play that game I didn’t say a word, just smiled and walked off.
Later on Tiah decided to give me grief over working with Jojo and started on about how he is useless and how he doesn’t do anything, as if she would know! To give him credit he does his job when he turns up and he does it well, if only he did not dress like a demented ex war freak. Both Jazz and Chantal hate the way he dresses and got into him about his clothes so to aggravate them he takes yet another medal out of his pocket then pins it on, he makes me understand why people get hit with blunt objects. I told Tiah that Jojo was only half the freak we thought and twice as good as being with Gervais but this only caused her to give me a dirty look as if I had caught something from the Sederos. Coco distracted her with questions about what she was wearing to the Opener and I was let off the hook. My life went from simple to a minefield in the course of a week at least I am not in the dungeon with Coco.
