Bird of a Different Feather

Nadia Voss the singer from Sedero’s came into Djini’s while I was there with Tiah and Coco for some Sunday brunch. She looks ultra glam in everything she wears and every guy in the place was nudging each other much to Tiah’s disgust. Everyone knows she would have been the next person signed by Osric Jones if he hadn’t discovered Zizi which made Nadia sprackle big time to anyone with any sort of ties to the music industry. Nadia sings with a smoky rich voice that sounds perfect in a club but Zizi sings with a voice that makes everyone stop in their tracks. I guess that is the difference between a good voice and a great one but that doesn’t mean the good one can’t get a contract as history shows, anyone can be a rock star.

I told Tiah how Nadia keeps Tony on a short leash and that Chantal can barely stay in the same room as her, then Nadia foolishly thought since she was sleeping with Tony that she could suddenly change her workdays and go sit beside Osric Jones when he came in for lunch. Everyone knows business is done at lunch and not dinner so Nadia’s presence was not welcomed. Chantal took her out back and gave her the real news; that she made all the decisions at Sedero’s and if Nadia did not want to be looking for a new job she had best toe the line. If Nadia was looking for support from Tony she wasn’t going to get it, one look at Chantal’s face and Tony slunk out the side door. I wonder how all of this makes Jazz and Jojo feel cause it’s not as if their private affairs are very private for Tony is not discreet, neither is Nadia and Chantal shouts fairly loudly.

Nadia spent every day this week making sound checks and setting herself up for the night I could not help but see how Jojo looked at her and thought maybe he fancied her as well but he said she just was not his type he added he was not into greedy, manipulative, controlling cold bitches. For him to know so much about Nadia makes me wonder if she tried out Jojo first and finding out he was no help to her career dropped him for Tony. Truth be told this is pretty much how Nadia operates as she tends to sleeps with whomever looks like they can help her career the most. She practically drools at Osric Jones when he comes in and once even Tony had to drag her away from his table to stop her from inviting herself to dinner.

Nadia didn’t go to the same school of any of us as she is a few years older and from the Northside of town where the schools are free and the kids pretty much go into the same type of work as their dads, mostly factory work and shops. I did not really meet Nadia until she sang at some party but a few minutes of her working out I was not important was about as much time with her as I would ever want to spend. If she had got her claws into Jojo I felt sorry for him because even someone like me can see she is one of those users who throws people away. I heard that she once got her claws into Braith Vanderhaven but his father sent him off to college pretty quickly that summer so there was lots of speculation over which girl Jago was protecting Braith from. She would have been more of a disaster than Ladonna marrying Axel Dubois, at least Ladonna and Axel were a good match! I can see poor Braith being driven crazy by Nadia making him introduce her to anyone she think could help her get famous. Nadia and Tiah are driven by one thing only and that is their quest to be famous. Zizi and Jazz are both far more talented than either than them and yet seem to be a little less sprackled and a little more dedicated.

Just as we were leaving Royce and Jojo come into the café and I sat there for ten minutes trying to think of excuses to stay but both Tiah and Coco were getting all peculiar and asking me loudly why I didn’t want to go, so of course I had to go. As we were walking out freak boy pulls faces at me to which of course I roll my eyes and ignore him, which makes him grin even more, he is such a monkey with his grinning and leaping about. Royce practically ignored me saying hello so I can only hope he was worried about Elyce and not ignoring me. Nadia of course made sure she got both their attentions before she left them all mumbling in their coffees. She is smoother than silk that girl and twice the upkeep.
