The Perils of Affiliation

The Perils of Affiliation

Last night Tiah decided to do a semi yearly clean out it usually happens just before the Opener so she can show her mother empty closets and complain she has nothing to wear which in turn initiates a big shopping spree. The clean out involves her trying on everything in her closet, contradicting what everyone says by claiming it all makes her look like a fat cow and then selling what she dislikes to a dealer in used designer clothes. I asked Tiah why she didn’t give it to some charity place that could sell it and use the money then Tiah pointed out that the dealer would get it anyway as they prowl the shops and pick up stuff for a song. This way the dealer pays more and she can donate cash to a charity, you know sometimes Tiah can be as shrewd as her mother although I never actually see her give anything to any charity from her dealer sales so I was just about to suggest we give the money to a charity right then when Royce and Braith turn up.

I spent the next ten minutes trying to get Royce’s attention which was a total waste of time as he appears to be oblivious to my existence, or that of any girl. Coco went madly silent the minute Braith came in so I knew right away that she likes him but with him messing about with Jazz I think she has as much luck as I do with Royce. Maybe I should introduce her to Jojo freak boy but no I couldn’t inflict him on anyone even if they would make a great pair, him with his monkey faces and her with vapid gazes into space as they could have kids and then sell tickets to the show.

Taryn and Caspar were talking in the ballroom which she only opens up for the Opener and large family functions like weddings and funerals and stuff. She was ignoring the fact he is a complete sex god and ignores us worse than Royce unless he is bored and then he winks at us behind her back to make us giggle. A few minutes later Liselle and creepy Gervais arrive and I thought how weird that he and Caspar are such good friends maybe Caspar is not bright enough to see how utterly horrible Gervais is or maybe he is afraid of him like everyone else. Liselle looked at me as if she was trying to place me and I had to stop myself from shouting “I WORKED FOR YOU!”

Instead I just did a Coco and stared vacantly into space as I didn’t really want to start a conversation with her as it might bring Gervais over and that would spoil the rest of my day. Taryn called us all into the ballroom where she started raving on about her plans leaving Braith and Royce yawning while Gervais checked Royce out in a most disturbing way. Tiah pretended to be interested while the boys shifted about looking bored only Coco was actually into what she was saying and even added a few pertinent comments.

We are all standing there when Jago oblivious to what he is doing walks in with Zizi and we watch Taryn go a shade of green and practically sprackle daggers while dragging Caspar in to the garden. The boys greet Zizi really fondly in fact Royce seemed ultra fizzed that Zizi was there but poor Zizi looked the way a lamb would look if lions invited it over for dinner. Tiah ignored her and kept trying to get her fathers attention while Liselle ignored Taryn and started talking to Jago. Jago breaks off his conversation with Liselle, which you could see annoyed her and turns to everyone to say he is pleased that Zizi will be attending this year’s Opener. This was sort of weird as Zizi has always attended the Opener she just came as Astrid’s daughter so I guess this year she will be coming unofficially as Jago’s daughter. Zizi did not look pleased at all, she gave Jago the coldest look for being a coward.

Idiot Jago will do anything to have a relationship with his talented daughter except publicly admit she is his daughter, oh he would buy her stuff and pay for her credit cards and have her attend all family functions but he will not admit openly she is his. Zizi on the other hand has far too much pride to force Jago into doing so, she probably could do something of the sort but she would prefer to greet him with scorn. I think Coco is the only one who actually likes her parents as the rest of us all seem to have issues, not that Mother is a burden or anything but sometimes she acts as absent as Liselle. Royce was overjoyed his sister was coming and I think that was lovely how he is welcomes her into the family but I maybe he is overcompensating for Jago being a coward because he insisted that he pick her up and drive her home so she would not have to worry about transportation.

Braith gave Royce the oddest look and ushered him out before he volunteered to lie down and let her walk on him. Tiah unable to get her father’s attention made Coco and I go upstairs so I was not able to see if Taryn managed to stand in the same room as Zizi without choking. Later on that night when I was leaving Taryn pulls me aside and tries to find out what I know about Bianca’s luncheon but lucky for me I have Coco as a friend as she is a great one to emulate in times of crises. I played totally dumb and told her that Cameo Larsen was doing the design and since the entire town knows this, it was not really telling her a thing. Gervais watched our conversation with an uncanny little smile that was pure Gervais, sinister, amused and knowing all in one. When I was almost out the door he said “Clever little girl,” and drifted off in his creepy silent way leaving a shiver down my back. I swear sometimes a simple visit to this family can leave you negotiating a social minefield.
