Stormy Interludes

Stormy Interludes

This afternoon Coco zoomed up driving her father’s almost new car as her little fake romance with Royce was heartily approved by mummy and daddy who had no idea it was a concoction and so gave their dear girl a car more suited to be seen driving up to the vineyard. Her father had about four cars so it was nothing for him to part with one and Coco was all fizzed over her new Saab which was sexy as. She demanded I ride with her but after the Tiah experience convertibles left me cold but Coco immediately put her top down and said get a scarf we are going for a drive. I pointed to the black clouds in the sky but nothing was going to spoil her showing off her car so we zoomed off into the afternoon and it was lovely feeling the wind on our faces.

After all the crap of Jojo, Royce, Mother, Jazz and with the entire town buzzing non stop with gossip and little covert wars it was nice to do something that had no direction at all. While we were driving Tiah phoned and of course demanded to see Coco’s new car but we both knew it was not from Tiah showing interest in Coco it was more Tiah ensuring that her car was better than Coco’s or it would be back to the dealer for a better car, one that didn’t smell either as Tiah has imaginary leather smelling technique. We drive up to the vineyard just in time to feel the first drops of rain hit us so we ran inside to be greeted by both Royce and Tiah. Coco ran back out to show Royce the car and he at least had the grace to look interested while helping her put the top up. Tiah looked at the black clouds and said it was good they had already harvested the grapes before the storms set in. Tiah for all her shallowness had managed in some obscure way to absorb the routines of her family business and I think she knew more than Royce, maybe almost as much as Braith. I looked at her and wondered if she was just this way because her family had never expected anything more from her.

Hearing people talk we turned expecting to see Royce and Coco and instead found Liselle and Gervais with Taryn who was of course sprackling about Braith and Jazz then sprackling about Royce and Coco. She left Tiah with the mortal fear that she might be sacrificed in a marriage to someone as both boys had managed to thwart Taryn’s plans. Gervais took one look at me and you could see the smarmy rising from his depths as he oozed over to me and I knew he was totally fizzed that I was there and having to be polite to him. Liselle gave us a bemused look, it appears that torture entertains her and walked off with Taryn making me want to smack her for leaving Gervais with us, doesn’t anyone in the entire world but me realize how dangerous he is?

An enormous crack of thunder made us all jump then next a huge wind came through the entire place slamming all the doors. Tiah shouted over the winds we had to close all the terrace doors quickly so we all started running from room to room before the storm hit. I was in the small sitting room when the sky went entirely black and the rains hit making the lights flicker until the power went out causing the room to be almost dark from the storm outside. Flashes of lightning lit it in an eerie fashion and the storm was so loud that everyone’s voices became a soft muffle in the distance. Suddenly a hand grabbed my shoulder and swung me about as I was pushed against the glass of the French door and before I could move Gervais had me pinned there.

I went to tell him to get off me when his lips pressed hard against mine and his tongue raked the inside of my mouth. I struggled but this made him press harder against me then I tried to shout but it was absorbed back into his mouth. It was the most disgusting moment in my life as I could smell his skin and hair, the scent was male and feral. I tried to wriggle free, I tried to kick him, I was amazed how someone so metro could be so strong. He held me against him and kissed me until I could not breathe and until I thought I was going to faint from the horror.

I heard Royce cursing sharply in the doorway and Gervais stepped back with a creepy victorious smile on his face. It was that smile I hated, as if he had stolen something from me and in fury I slapped him as hard as I could but it only made him smile like a contented cat, that entire family is messed up to extreme. Royce went red in the face and started for Gervais but a newly arrived Coco held onto him while Tiah grabbed my hand and we all ran upstairs. I was shaking with rage and disgust and fear. I asked Tiah why someone didn’t tell Taryn about how Gervais behaves but her answer was the answer everyone has when it was him, he is a Dubois and there was no point. I went into her bathroom and washed my mouth and face a million times while I heard Royce and Tiah arguing. Coco came in and said everything was arranged, I was going to be taken home. I didn’t understand what she was talking about as I was too busy trying to wash Gervais off me but he was stuck in my head and I kept shivering at the thought.

Finally I left the bathroom and found everyone had moved to Tiah’s sitting room busy discussing what to do with me, somehow Jojo had joined the group and they all stopped talking when I came in. Jojo came up, took my hand and said he was going to take me home but I told Jojo to forget it as I had already had enough games for one day and I was not about to used by him again for whatever he had planned. Jojo didn’t let go as he pulled me out into the hallway and apologized. I told him he should have done that days ago and doing it now was no help and I watched his face melt into all these emotions it is so like guys not to talk about stuff but you can see their faces all melt into feelings. He promised that he was going to take me straight home and if he did anything wrong I could thump him, God he is so silly. Royce pushed me from behind and told me to go on, Jojo was going to behave and he would take care of Gervais. I was too upset to argue so I left with Jojo in his stupid ugly jeep thing.

We started driving down the long driveway to Coopers Lane, this is the road leading to the Vanderhaven Vineyards. It is a nice windy road with large trees lining each side of it and usually I enjoy looking up at the green canopy hanging over the road but today it was a menacing sway of tangled branches in the winds. Jojo said if I kept wiping my mouth my lips were going to be raw. I didn’t know I had been doing it and told him it was because Gervais was in my head and I couldn’t get him out. He shook his head and I thought if he tells me it was only a kiss I swear I will beat him to death. It was not just a kiss it was weeks of being stalked and tormented by someone who had all the power in our town but Jojo said nothing and kept driving until the second wave of the storm hit us.

He pulled his jeep over to the side of the road while it rained so hard I half expected the roof of the car too cave in and I kept looking up at it waiting for the wind to rip it off and the jeep to be pushed over. The rain ran down the windows, cleaning the dust off them and I wished I could clean Gervais off me the same way. As I went to wipe my mouth on my sleeve Jojo unbuckled himself, leaned over and pulled me towards him. He put his hand in my hair and kissed me gently on the lips. Then he kissed my face and the tears from my eyes, he kissed my lips again and I felt his tongue sliding into my mouth as his arms went around me and the next thing I know my arms are around his neck and we kiss and kiss while the storm is blowing wildly around us. When the rain eases off to a soft thud on the roof he lets me go and we don’t say a single word. I knew then that I was totally in love with Jojo Sedero and it was the worst moment in my life.
