The Invisible Girl

I went to work today uncertain what Jojo was going to do because my outburst to Coco had not been very flattering and I knew she wouldn’t be able to resist telling Royce who would no doubt blab to Jojo. But so far we he did not say a word to me, he had managed to avoid speaking to me or ran off to one of his stupid games. Then Coco decided to ring up and ask me idiotic questions about why I was not all over him, I am pretty sure he was behind it all as Coco was never that interested in the life of someone else. It was time someone pointed out to him that it takes more than a kiss in a storm to win a girl over especially one that spends her time covering his lazy ass when he pisses off to his idiotic pseudo sport carnivals such as right now as I was standing alone in the office and where was he?

I managed during my break to slip out to have a coffee at Djini’s, it was the only place I could get any peace from questions about Jojo. I got back to the restaurant to find Jojo in the parking lot and he stood there scowling while he waited for me to get out of my car. He asked me how I was and although I tried to keep him at arms length, words kept bubbling out of him as he kept telling me about what he and Royce wanted to do. He spoke in these frantic sentences and I felt he was trying to show me something important but I was still angry he had abandoned me yet again to cover his lazy ass so I told him I understood he and Royce wanted to start something without actually doing stuff. He interrupted me and said all their networking at carnivals was doing stuff as they had to compete and be known to the other athletes. I added--and wait around for mummy and daddy to finance their stuff when they should be saving up for it themselves then I pointed out most people started in a garage someplace and went from there, not from their BMW’s whining. His face became totally black and he turned on me in a fury saying I didn’t even try to be supportive so I told him if he actually did something, anything I would be right there supporting him but so far all he has managed to do is use me to cover for him while he went off and played games. Jojo scowled at me as if I had stabbed him and stormed off into the restaurant like the spoiled brat he is.

The rest of the day he ignored me and slammed things about until Chantal came and glared at us both. The lunch crowd came and for a second I saw Gervais in his usual seat giving me his creepy stare but I was too busy trying to get Jojo’s attention to care. I finally cornered him and said I was sorry, even though secretly I didn’t think anything was my fault, but I couldn’t understand what he and Royce were hoping to achieve going about stuff the way they did. He told me not to bother that I was too shallow to understand anything but fashion and movie stars which was so low I could have slapped him and if place wasn’t full of customers I might have. A coo across the room got his attention and we saw Lynx Garcelle looking very cosy with Gervais, she was either out of her mind or more demented than he is. I was surprised to see her up so early in the day but there she was looking all the part of a local celebrity. Gervais was smiling at her in his creepiest fashion but she seemed to be immune to him and started cooing at Jojo which made my blood chill, Lynx would devour him and spit him out, this was her favorite pastime with men. I wondered what she could possibly want from someone who dressed like he came from a military costume party and watched him go over to her table where she rubbing his arm as they chatted. I watched as Jojo fizz at all the attention and then sat down to join them at their table, the nerve of him, after I tell him off for leaving me in the lurch he then does it right in front of me but I guess the son of the owner can do exactly what he likes.

I watched Lynx rub his arm and smile at him with all her fake TV star charm and I swear she is so plastic she crinkled but he could not see that all he saw was a local star giving him the time of day. I wanted to drag his stupid ass away and tell him that Lynx would chew him up and spit him out just for fun for while Liselle was aloof to the point of ice and Elyce was malicious, Lynx used men for something to do. She never had relationships, she had sexual flurries and the victim was whomever she decided at that moment amused her. I left to organize the books in the back room and when I came back none of them were around so I asked one of the girls where Jojo was and she said he had left with Lynx. I stood there stunned, I could not believe it, Jojo left with her just like that. One minute he wanted me to understand his entire life the next he left with the first woman who smiled at him and she wasn’t even a proper woman either, she was a fantasy who used men and threw them away just like he threw me away. I went home and sat on my bed in disbelief, now I know I said I did not want to start anything with Jojo but that was a lie. I wanted Jojo but a more grown up Jojo not for him to walk away with Lynx right in front of me. I sat alone in the dark as there was no point putting on the light I was invisible anyway.
