Start->Chapter 2->Episode 22 To Gervais
I met Tiah and Coco down Djini’s as they were all fizzing, wanting to know what working for Caspar was like and I told them that so far it was nothing. He had me put stuff in an organiser then put stuff in the computer, then I made a million phone calls to people telling them they needed to deliver stuff, when stuff came I had to write down what it was and that so far was all that I did. Caspar would come back from wherever he was, look at whatever was delivered announce it was not good quality then keep it anyway saying he would pawn it off on someone. He ran in and out all day and was always surprised when he noticed me still there as if I was an afterthought he could not quite remember.
He had three other people working for him at the house, there was Claudia who was so thin she looked like a bunch of angles, she snorted at everyone and everything and spoke to everyone, even Caspar in the rudest way and I don’t know why he keeps her on at all. Her fashion sense consists of an ugly black dress and two pens stuck in her bun which she would rip out to sign delivery receipts with such violence I swear she scared the delivery people half to death. Then there was Tim who was very, very camp so camp it was as if he deliberately was being a cliché from a seventies sitcom. No one cared if he was a gay drama queen we were all too busy with our own lives but Tim would flounce about acting more girlie than any girl would and I think Caspar keeps him because he can magically put together fabrics and colours that make even sad stuff look amazing. Finally there was Simon a really cute quiet guy who never said much, I think he was sort of the muscle. He lifted everything heavy and did all the driving when we took trucks out anywhere. I never saw Caspar actually speak to him it was like Simon just knew what needed to be where and made sure it happened. Everyone else there sort of treaded Simon as if he was the boss, offering him the respect that was absent from their conversations with Caspar.
Before I left for the day Caspar told me that I was going out with him tomorrow to take the notes for a new event had been ordered. I am sort of looking forward to seeing how he goes about planning one and how he gets the old boods to choose exactly what he wants. I ended my first day without looking too much like an idiot, met Tiah and Coco, told them everything I knew so far about the job and they were disappointed I had not gone out and got some gossip about people. Although I could have given them some great gossip about Gervais helping me but I wasn’t about to tell them I even let him sit near me!
Tiah decided it was time to get organised and she wanted to enlist us in her plan to stop the marriage between Braith and Jazz. So far there had not been much buzz about it after their big Spring Opener announcement but when Braith had come down at breakfast and told the family they were having an engagement party at Sedero’s Taryn nearly choked to death and Jago hid behind his paper. Braith explained that the restaurant was the easiest place to have the party and suggested that his mother call Chantal and talk about the details. Tiah said she was scared to look up from her plate she could not believe Braith had said this to his mother so casually. After Braith left Tiah went upstairs and hid because Taryn sprackled for hours and hours on the phone to Liselle. Then Liselle came over and she sprackled to her for hours in her sitting room, Tiah said the entire staff of the house hid someplace as she couldn’t find a soul.
She wanted this engagement to end because if Braith did marry Jazz she was convinced Taryn would have a breakdown and send her off to some convent for the next few years or marry her to Gervais to make up for it. That thought had me shudder so much I sat there and listened to her go through her endless list of scenarios to break them up. At least she moved away from the idea of trying to sleep with Jazz and instead suggested maybe Royce could seduce Jazz which got a black look from Coco and I had to tell her that was a bad idea as Royce was doing so well being away from Jojo and Elyce.
In some sort of fit of bizarre revenge she wished Elyce would seduce Jazz but soon gave that fantasy up when we deafened her with our collective yuck! Then she wondered if we could get someone to seduce Braith away, Coco suggested Lynx would be good as she loved to break people up and Braith did not notice other girls much but Lynx was this huge actress so he was bound to pay attention. I knew she was only saying it to get Lynx away from Jojo as she was convinced I still wanted him back, which I didn’t, I mean I do but I won’t because he ran off with her in front of me so I can’t. I just couldn’t face the all of that. I glared at Coco but Tiah shrugged off the idea as she knew Lynx had already had a fling with Braith when he was at university. Lynx pretty much has had all the men in Bishop Vale so why would Jojo be any different, it was a rite of passage of our town, get used and thrown away by Lynx.
Then Coco said something that stunned us all, she suggested we get Gervais to break them up. I could not believe my ears, she wanted us to deal the devil, I told her no way, the price with Gervais would always be far too high. What surprised me even more was that Tiah did not shout this down, she was so desperate she seemed to consider the idea. Maybe Gervais was the one person in town who could manipulate people into doing stuff but even this was a big ask as they were completely in love and I didn’t want to break them up. I though they were cool together, so in love and not caring about how much their families sprackled so I told Coco, never dance with the devil cause he always leads.
