Winds of Change

Today I stayed home because Mother was all peculiar, not that Mother is ever exactly normal but today she was very strange. She kept starting all these sentences and never finishing them. so I wondered if she had finally gossiped herself into some sort of dementia when she got up from the breakfast table holding the sugar bowl instead of her teacup.

When she absently put it to her mouth to take a swig of sugar I decided that leaving her alone to burn the house down might not be such a good idea so I called work and got Jojo who started on me for slacking off until I shouted at him, typical freak boy. I am going to dong that idiot when I go into work tomorrow. Anyway I got all worried over nothing because all that was wrong with her was a guilty conscience, I could tell by the stupid things she kept saying all day. First of all she asked me how work was and I told her she knew how work was. I had to put up with an idiot boy all day who spent a lot of his time running off to play which made her sigh and say it was probably genetic as Tony was just like that.

It was funny as she almost never refers to Tony much, he cheats on Chantal so he is invisible to her, Taryn hates Chantal so she is invisible to her, that is how Mother deals with conflict she makes it invisible. She started following me about from room to room irritating me with her aimless questions as she kept asking me how work was, how I was getting along with Jojo, if I saw much of Jazz and Tony. I told her the truth that I hardly spoke to Jazz, Chantal was always running around and Jojo was an idiot monkey boy. She gave me a look and said I was being too harsh and that Jojo just might be a product of his father and I couldn’t help but groan aloud and told her he is a product of lazy bastard enterprises-- that is what he is! When I explained he ran off all day to play silly games with Royce instead of doing his job Mother appeared to be somewhat relieved about my opinion of Jojo.

Then she started to question me closely about Tony and it wasn’t until then that I realized she was worried she had put me in harms way by having me work near Jojo and Tony. Now Jojo I could understand for after a few weeks with him I am surprised I have not been arrested for assault with a frying pan as for Tony yuck, yuck, yuck! He has his thing with Nadia I told her but she seemed to think otherwise and I left her to mutter her cryptic nonsense—if only she had been this concerned when I was working near Gervais!

I wish I knew someone in the world who was slightly normal at least then I could have something resembling a conversation. The day did not improve as Jojo decided to called me about twenty times asking me where things were and I told him he knew damn well where they were as they are in the same place they always have been. Mother of course got on my case for cursing at him and had the nerve to suggest perhaps he was concerned at my absence but I had to knock that thought right out of her head and quickly! I explained that the only thing Jojo was concerned about was him having to do all the work and a taste of his own medicine would do him the world of good.

Maybe now he will think twice before running off to surf carnivals in the middle of lunch and I decided I was not covering for him anymore. One more absconding and I am straight to Chantal and she can thump some sense into him for it’s not that I am against all this extreme sports stuff, well ok maybe I think it’s dumb and boring and dangerous and well boring, but I do think he needs to work out just who he really is. All this wearing fake army gear and berets and those god awful boots does nothing for his credibility even I know this! If he wants to start up a business who is going to take freak boy seriously, everyone would just shake their heads and call him Chantal’s silly little boy, if he wants to be a business guy he has to act like one, even Gervais gets that right!

There was one bright spot to my day, Tiah called and said her mother was having a dinner party and suggested she invite some friends over. I like their dinner parties as it’s an excuse to wear something formal and borrow Mother’s jewelry. It’s so odd but a week ago I would have sat there all fizzed about spending the evening being near Royce but now I am more concerned about what shoe to wear. It feels so good to be free of men, well almost free cause I still got the monkey boy and creepy Gervais on my back.
