The Whole World in his Hands

The Whole World in his Hands

I woke this morning feeling like the world had promise as Simon had left me last night with a kiss. His kiss was thoughtful and gentle unlike the raking possessive kisses of Gervais or the passionate consuming kisses of Jojo. He arranged to pick me up to take me to work as I had left my car in the car park and I was in the kitchen with Maritka when Mother came in all beaming and fluffy. I could see she liked Simon when she told me that nice young man was here again she could not contain her smiles. Before I could avoid her conversation she informed me that she had known his father and in fact had a crush on him at school now this was something I never was going to mention to Simon as Mother’s high school crushes were to remain as far in the past as possible.

Simon was in the drawing room humming to himself when I came in and suddenly I felt shy and nervous when I realised just how gorgeous he really is. Simon had just been the muscle out back until he had decided to rescue me and how here he was, a tall gorgeous wonderful guy playing hero to my damsel in distress. I had never felt this way with Jojo as I was usually too busy telling him to behave and with Gervais I was usually shuddering and working out ways to get far away from him. Simon gave me a big kiss and laughed when I blushed, he grabbed me by the hand and we drove off to work. The entire drive I babbled on about nothing because I was worried about what I had got myself into or worse what I was getting him into as well. I know I liked being with him and when we were together I was happy but I was not sure I could give him what he wanted but Simon was in no hurry. Everything he did was gentle, calm and perfect and I liked him more and more each day but I was uncertain if we could continue what he was so determined to start.

The second we arrived to work Claudia dragged him off to some crises which then got Tim in running about in a tizzy. In the end it got so mixed up that Caspar came out of his office to work out why none of the linen had been delivered to the venue. After calling several times and not getting a proper answer he decided that Claudia and I were to go straighten it out. I had no idea why he wanted me to do as Claudia could shout loud enough to knock down a building but he told me to get the details as she always forgot this. We arrived at the suppliers to discover it was all a storm in a teacup and that they had only mistaken the address for delivery. A short call to the van had the linen delivered right away and we returned to work relieved there was no shouting that day, only I was terribly wrong, there was shouting and it was pretty much all concerned me.

Claudia and I walked in and the minute I sat at my desk Tim bounces in from out the back and hisses at me that everything was my fault for being an evil bitch. I just stare at Tim in confused until hear Claudia shouting at Caspar in his office it was then I understood what had happened. Caspar had taken the opportunity while we were out to fire Simon on the pretext of this mix up. Claudia gave Caspar what for and insisted he bring Simon back as there was no issue at all, I was the one handing out addresses not Simon but Caspar was adamant, Simon was to go. I could not believe my ears and sat stunned that Caspar could be so petty and after Claudia slammed her way out of the office Caspar left without even a glance my way. Tim had flounced out back as he had to fill in until Simon was replaced so I was left to ponder the insanity of this day.

I wasted no time using the number Simon had left on my phone, I called and to my surprise when he answered he was completely cheerful saying he was going to go fishing. I asked him why had he really been fired and he said it was something to do with tablecloths however I didn’t believe a word he said and asked if it was because of me. He laughed for a few minutes and said I was a very silly girl as the world did not revolve around me. He was perfectly happy and had another job lined up just fine and as dubious as I was there was nothing much more I get out of him. I wanted so much to believe what he said but to me this had the sticky hands of Gervais Dubois all over it.
