Going to the Chapel, Going to get Married

Jojo and I turned up for lunch at Sedero’s today arriving the same time as Braith and Jazz which made a wonderful chance for us to get together for an enjoyable afternoon. While Chantal was doing a begrudging acceptance of Braith and Jazz she was thrilled with me and Jojo and was smiling like a Cheshire cat every time we met her eyes. Braith acted like Jazz was made of glass and was hovering all around her all protective and loving. I looked across the room at Jojo picking out some wine and realised he was not going to hover like this about me for he was more a storm that came and left with the same intensity.

Just as I put him down as not noticing me much he came over and asked what was wrong as he had noticed me looking at Jazz strangely and then back at him. Jojo might not have hovered around but he noticed everything I did, this comforted me like a warm blanket and I wrapped the thought of Jojo around my heart. I smiled and stroked the side of his face with my fingertips watching as six foot of extreme sport man melt under my touch and meeting my cheeky grin with his own he ordered lunch. I sat quietly as he ordered, then explained as nicely as I could that I didn’t eat a single food he had asked for. He looked abashed and let me order my own and I wrinkled my nose at him watching him look relaxed and happy.

I could feel love filling every crevice of my heart, it flooded into me making me burn and I could not look elsewhere as all the emotions I had been denying myself were finally allowed to explode from my being. Jojo held my hand under the table causing Jazz to nudge Braith and they beamed at us like benevolent relatives who had planned our meeting. The lunch was not without event however as this was Bishop Vale and this town always had some scandal going. Today Nadia was the focus of the town as her little ploy to trap Jago didn’t work as a vindictive Lynx happily confirmed to all that Nadia had never been pregnant at all so Nadia in retaliation revealed that Lynx was currently sleeping with Tony Sedero and Caspar Royale at the same time. This news infuriates Astrid Tahn who kicks Tony out into the street and Bianca Sangu, not the most ladylike person at the best of times decides to come into Sedero’s of all places and have a public rant at Caspar who was entertaining his latest customer/conquest. She did enough verbal damage to give her hubby a huge cause for divorce if had had a financial leg to stand on and Chantal while enjoying the show had to have Mrs. Sangu escorted quietly out the back door.

All these trysts gave us a bit of a giggle over lunch and when Chantal was out of hearing distance Jazz and I turned to Jojo while demanding to know where Royce was. Braith explained that a month ago Royce and Coco had done the paperwork to elope and were merely biding their time until they could leave. Royce would appear to be the dutiful son and wander about on the leash of Elyce Dubois and Coco was to play the heartbroken ex of course Braith was in on it which explained his little hand holding in Millie’s café. Jazz and I were indignant that Coco hadn’t said a word to us and demanded to know why we were not in the plan. Braith and Jojo exchanged knowing looks with Jojo saying in an offhanded manner that women just couldn’t keep secrets. My reply was to kick him under the table where he pretended to be offended and refused to finish his story until I kissed him better. After Jazz scowled at him only the way a sister can he told us that they are safely married and are having a little honeymoon on the coast until it was a bit safer to come home. We made a toast to the happy couple and I said to Jazz that now it was her turn to plan a wedding which made her blush and tried to brush it off but Braith was having none of it, he put down his glass and said “The sooner the better.” Jazz went a bright pink and looked completely in love.

Later on when we were back at the house I said to Jojo that I hoped Royce and Coco had made the right decision as marriage was a very drastic solution to the issue of a Dubois stalking. He sat on the sofa, pulled me down on him and said he and Royce had gone through every option for hours until this was the only one that made sense. Coco and he had been in love for most of their lives, they were both so vague that it never occurred to either of them to do something about it. I smiled at him saying it was cool that he understood his friend so well as most would not have bothered to help a friend escape their lunatic family and he replied he knew something of living in one so it was easy. I had to agree with him for it seems despite her gin and fluffy ways Mother had provided me with a stable, non embarrassing home and now once I had realised it she was gone before I could thank her which made me start to cry. Jojo held me close and I felt a twinge of guilt at being happy and grieving all at once, for it seemed I had to lose someone important to gain someone wonderful. Life was never a complete happiness.
