I had a taste, just the slightest flavour, a savouring of revenge on Gervais and it was a delicious moment that changed me life for now I was no longer content to sit waiting to be his victim. After hearing about his misadventure with Tiah I spent the night wracking my brains with a way to get her away from him but nothing came to mind as Gervais was not one to be easily defeated. Jojo could sense I was preoccupied but he thought it was with the papers I had given to my accountant as he would alternately wander off to call someone and come back to smother with me kisses The contracts were being drawn up and I found him and Royce hours discussing new plans looking so alive and joyful when excited about their business it made me ashamed I had been so negative about it in the beginning. I woke up to a bleak day and was not bothered when Jojo took off with Royce to make plans about something as I was so preoccupied I did not pay much attention to whatever he said as he kissed me goodbye.

A few hours later I got a surprise when Zizi called me up as I was not too pleased with her brushing me off yesterday when I asked for her help with Tiah so she was the last person I expected to phone me and what she had to say was even more surprising. Zizi was not quite the aloof person she led me to believe and despite her nonchalance at my call she had in fact called her father to task. She phoned Jago up and told him that his selfishness was ruining his family and that if he enjoyed having Tiah in the clutches of Gervais then by all means continue his currently whoring in lieu of parenting.

I was willing to bet she really had spoken to him like that as Zizi was not one to mince words and telling her father he was behaving like a creep must have been gratifying for her. Jago was horrified to learn what had happened and went dashing up to the estate to blame Taryn who was only too happy to point out that he was the one who had thrown one daughter away for another. For once Taryn was right, Tiah might not have been the most brilliant of daughters but she was a product of her parents and they only had themselves to blame.

Jago wasted no time getting Liselle, who wondered what all the fuss was about, to get him into the Dubois compound where he confronted Gervais before returning with his must chastened and very much wiser daughter. Tiah locked herself in her room while her parents had a serious tęte á tęte about her future, the end result was a subdued Jago returning to the family home while a furious Liselle was left cooling her heels with a bemused Gervais. It seems he was not above ruining the happiness of his own family if it amuses him for Liselle and Jago were no more and she had her selfish insane brother to thank for that.

You would think Gervais would have been furious to have his little conquest torn away from him but no, he was merely amused and appeared to enjoy the skirmish with Jago. I think maybe ten minutes of Tiah’s company must have had him welcome anyone who would take her off his hands as her endless capacity for self pity and tendency to burst into tears would bore even the most besotted guy. I don’t know where Zizi got half her information, probably from Osric but I was glad that she did something for her half sister, that Tiah was back home where she belonged and that Gervais was thwarted in his plans.

I went down to Djini’s for lunch with Coco as she was bored as I was and to my displeasure I discovered Gervais enjoying a latte while making the waitresses nervous with his basilisk gaze. He saw me and his face blanked out as he gave me a cold nod and not one to miss a moment of my own I smiled sweetly and could not resist saying “ Dining alone?” For a second I saw the shadow of annoyance cross his face before he recovered his smarmy nonchalant face but I knew that even though he did not care that Jago took Tiah he did care that I enjoyed his loss. He turned his eyes upon Coco and I smiled at him again, for his evil plans for Coco, Tiah and I had not come to fruition which gave me great pleasure, nothing like making him lose at his own game and I could not resist adding “Losing our touch are we?” His baleful glare did nothing to diminish my enjoyment and I gave him a cheery grin as we sat across the room. Gervais never one to be predictable changed his glare into a smile and I saw a hint of what was yet to come for now the boundaries had been set and our war was about to commence.
