Running interference

Taryn in her party wisdom, as this appears to be the only wisdom she has, decided to throw a welcome to the family party for Coco, this was I think a quick cover up of Tiah’s indiscretion before the boods ran into high gear with their gossip. In order to combat the rising tide of queries as to just what Tiah was doing at the Dubois compound Taryn issued an almost carte blanche invitation to the glitterati in town. They were all invited and invitations were quickly dispatched with Caspar no doubt was going to work overtime getting this lot in order as Taryn had given short notice, make a party, make it grand and make it now.

Tiah appearing totally immune to her folly, immediately got all excited at the prospect of shopping with a bottomless credit card again for Jago had lifted all bans and let his daughter loose upon the local boutiques. A fizzing Coco called me to say that Taryn had decided to welcome her with open arms which made her parents totally happy and Royce much relieved as he was not looking forward to months of Taryn complaints. She and Royce were moving back up the estate and she was looking forward to them having their own wing at the house. Jago kept pretty low key through out all the fizzing, party plans and shopping while Liselle in her usual ethereal Dubois fashion was nowhere in sight. Hard to imagine her taking this lying down as she had waited years for Jago to leave Taryn only to be thwarted by her own brother and I wondered how he managed to survive this, with any luck she will stab him in his sleep and I listened to the news in hope but no such luck.

Coco said the only spanner in the works was Braith who told Taryn in no uncertain terms that she was also to announce her joy at his upcoming nuptials with Jazz. She tried to get out of it but one frown from Jago kept her in line and she agreed meekly to Braith’s demands. Tiah and Coco were going out to get gowns insisting that I also come and I agreed but said I was going to pick up Jazz first and Tiah didn’t even bother sprackling for she had come to terms with both her brothers’ relationships and after a night of Gervais, was probably pondering her own mortality. Jojo asked what all the fuss was about and I told him we were going to the Vanderhaven’s welcome Coco to the family party which made him roll his eyes and I told him to stop it, Royce was his best friend and we are going. I left to get a new dress which had him comment that every new party did not have to mean a new dress which made me roll my eyes in return as he obviously had no idea about the social niceties of our town.

We had a great day shopping and descended on every boutique in the town as Taryn had not left us a lot of time to find a dress but it didn’t really matter as a party was—well a party! I was looking forward to a Gervaisless time and I think everyone one else was relieved that at least one relationship was back to normal. I knew that Tony was still holed up with Astrid and Chantal was making puppy eyes at Mr. Sangu so I didn’t mention them to Jazz who was looking happier than I had seen her in weeks.

Even though Jazz was having her wedding gown custom made we still went to the local shop and had her try on nearly every dress, disagreeing with the poor shop owner who thought she was bound to have a sale on her sad polyester gowns. When everyone was searching the racks for a gown for Jazz to try on I saw Tiah drop her mask for a second and she looked about as miserable as anyone who had spent a night with Gervais could look. I grabbed her and took her into one of the cubicles and asked her if she wanted to talk as I knew she was trying to avoid reality as long as she could but it was bound to catch up with her sooner or later. She shook her head but unable to contain her misery any longer the tears came rolling down her face. Stricken by her misery I wiped away her tears as she said she felt dirty right down to her soul, poor Tiah, her own needy stupidity had got her into trouble yet I felt somewhat responsible, that somehow she had paid the price of me flouting the wishes of evil Gervais. She told me in a hushed voice that he was detestable beyond describing and that for some weird reason he had called her minxie while doing vile things to her. I knew Gervais had not been the first guy in Tiah’s bed but I think he was going to be the last for a long, long while.
