Start->Chapter 5->Episode 8 To Gervais
I woke up today and again found Jojo gone without a word and I had to admit I found this getting tedious as he knew I wanted to speak to him very much. Grief must have exhausted me into sleeping very soundly for I had not woken up when he returned and I was surprised I had not woken when he go into bed beside me. I went downstairs and told Maritka to tell me if Mr. Jojo rang or arrived and ate breakfast on the terrace alone. I called my accountant in the vain hope that he and Jojo and Royce had hooked up but he said neither of them had contacted him and frankly he did not believe they were interested in pursuing our contract. This had me totally confused so I tried calling Royce who at least answered his phone but he had so much background noise that I was forced to give up and let him go.
I went back upstairs to ponder the mystery of Mother’s letter again when Tiah called me to ask what time was I arriving at the party tomorrow.. I had totally forgotten about Taryn’s welcome to the family party for Coco and didn’t want to go but of course I didn’t tell Tiah this as she was still pretty fragile after the horrors of Gervais. I told her I was a bit frazzled helping Jojo set up his new business but was sure that we would be there early, after all Royce was Jojo’s best friend! A mollified Tiah rambled on about how inconvenient the party was as she had barely any time to shop for it and I listened with half an ear as I was now used to how Tiah made everything about herself.
One thing she did gossip about that took my mind off my troubles was the new affair in town for Chantal had followed up on her very obvious interest and was carrying on a semi public but very hot affair with Mr. Bianca Sangu! I knew all the boods considered him hot stuff and he was pretty fit for his age but the thought of dating Mr. Porn put shivers down my spine. Well if anyone could raise his social standing in the world it would be Chantal Sedero as her money opened a lot of doors and her restaurants were the hottest places to be. We giggled a bit over imaginary scenes of Bianca fuming because she was never going to be accepted even if she married a Dubois, the world was a different place for those who held the money and those who married it.
Tiah also told me that Simon had been seen out with Nadia Voss in some sort of downward spiral of dating the most whorish woman in town and if his atrocious choice in women was to intended to annoy me he had succeeded for a I felt a pang of anger that he had gone out with the women I most detested. I could not admit this hypocrisy to Tiah as she would have blabbed all over town that I was still in love with Simon and even if I was, every time his name was mentioned Gervais was always there in the background, hovering like some vulture ready for the kill.
Tiah said Zizi and Jago were talking again as Jago was furious with Osric and her getting engaged but Zizi put Jago’s mind to rest saying it was a ploy to keep guys away as she was getting quite a following which included a few unsavory stalkers. Tiah continued the gossip saying Ladonna had come into Djini’s and had stirred the place up by complaining about everything then gave the girls huge tips saying she remembered being a working girl herself. This had Tiah in convulsions as the thought of Ladonna’s ample frame swinging on a pole was an entertaining though, although she was able to laugh at Ladonna she did not mention Gervais at all and I knew that somehow I was going to make him pay for what he did to her.
Tiah might have been a brainless fool to fall for his smarmy charm but I knew in my heart that he wanted to spite me for being with Simon, then Jojo and she was easy fodder for someone with his manipulating skills. Tiah lowered her voice to say that Caspar was busy trying to get Bianca Sangu back because he had found out that if she left Mr. Sangu she would get millions due to their lack of pre-nup. Caspar was not above lining his nest for life and Bianca was just the dimwit he could convince to marry him. She then started sprackling about how Taryn was paying all this attention to Royce with this welcome to the family dinner and had ignored her ever since she had come back. Since Taryn’s attention only made her children miserable you would think Tiah would be grateful she did not have some insane plan lined up for her.
After I got rid of Tiah I called up Jazz asking her if she had any idea where Jojo was and she was as puzzled as I was by his behaviour saying that she would try to get in contact with him. A few minutes later she rang back to say she had got hold of him but the reception was so bad she could not understand a word he said she added that he was probably in a black spot and was not getting any calls. This only salved my feelings for a bit as I was very confused by his behaviour, what would turn Jojo from being so attentive into someone who was virtually ignoring me, and the answer hovered in the back of mind like an evil cloud of malice, surely Gervais had not gotten to him. I got back on the phone and after a futile half an hour of trying to reach Jojo gave up for while nothing had changed for me, I was still trying to absorb the shock of being without Mother Jojo had moved on in ten seconds. I know his business was important to him but his relationship should be equally as important and as I felt Jojo slipping away I knew there was nothing I could do about it.
